Grades 3 through 5 spent the day at the New England Aquarium in
Boston on a grand adventure. We arrived early enough to have the
Aquarium to ourselves and we spread out all over the aquarium with our
classmates and chaperones. Our first stop was the GIANT Ocean Tank on
the top floor. We arrived just in time for the first presentation and
feeding time. It was fun observing how the tank workers carefully
navigated their way through the tank as huge tilapia and puffer fish
swam by.
The star of the day was 69 year old Myrtle the turtle, queen mother
of the Ocean tank. Although Myrtle weighed about 400 pounds she swam
regally across the tank for her vegetarian breakfast of fresh iceberg
lettuce. SNAP!
