We Party For Education
Fletcher Maynard will be taking a family trip to Senegal from April 18th
to April 24th. On the trip we will explore the country’s arts and
culture as we visit various popular destinations including the African
Renaissance Monument and the famous Goree Island. Students, teachers,
and community members have been holding various fundraising events to
support the trip and will continue to do so into April. On Friday,
January 24 the FMA faculty held one such fundraising event.
Led
by committee of FMA faculty and staff the school community came together
to host a Senegal themed dance and music party on Friday evening
(January 24) at the Elks Lodge in Area IV Cambridge. Volunteers spread
the word across Cambridge, prepared food, decorated the Lodge and hosted
the event. The event featured live Senegalese music performed by a
local band with Senegalese members. All together more than 150 people
attended the fundraising party and helped the FMA raise much-needed
funds for the upcoming trip.
The FMA faculty and staff would
like to thank all the people that volunteered, donated funds, and/or
attended the event. Your support will help us meet our fundraising goal
for the trip. Our fundraising efforts are not over, however. Before the
April date we will continue holding more events to raise funds for the
trip. Please contact the school at 617.349.6588 if you would like to
volunteer or donate funds.
