Keyboarding is an essential skill for students in today’s
digital world. It is imperative that they develop proper technique with
accuracy and speed to efficiently produce content through the keyboard.
This basic skill opens the door to create, collaborate, and communicate
their ideas through digital text and prepares them for the school and
work environments of the 21st century. Beyond formal keyboarding
instruction, students will require review opportunities and more
importantly composition opportunities to word process and produce
digital text in all subject areas to maintain their efficiency.
With this in mind, we would like to share with you that students in
grades 3 to 5 now have access to Typing Club, an online formal
keyboarding program that will support the development of this essential
skill. We will be introducing Typing Club in the schools, but want you
to know that students have access outside of school (home, library,
youth center, etc.) as well.
