Cambridge Public Schools has adopted a new math program called
Math In Focus. Here at the Fletcher Maynard Academy we are implementing the program in Grades 1, 4, and 5 with the other grades to follow in the 2015 - 16 school year. In the next few weeks the students will be able to access the program from home, as well as, the families through the links we will provide on the FMA website. Math in Focus provides an authentic Singapore math curriculum—highlighting problem solving as the focus of mathematical learning. This complete program teaches concepts using a concrete–pictorial–abstract learning progression to anchor learning in real-world, hands-on experiences, supported by seamless integration of technology with the use of eBooks, Interactive Whiteboard activities, online student activities, online manipulatives, and a bar modeling approach.”
