Enrichment Opportunities at the Fletcher Maynard
Kodaly Music Program (In School; Grades K-2)
The mission of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators is to
enrich the quality of life of the people of the people of the USA
through music education by promoting the philosophy of Zoltán Kodály.
The Kodály concept is a philosophy of education and a concept of
teaching, and is a comprehensive program to train basic musical skills
and teach the reading and writing of music. Kodály is an integration of
many of the best ideas, techniques, and approaches to music education;
and is an experience-based approach to teaching.
The Suzuki Method (Strings; In School Grade K)
The
Suzuki method, a unique humanistic approach to teaching music, believes
in involving parents and starting with the kids when they are young.
The method focuses on listening, repetition, and group work to
stimulate learning and understanding of music. The program will teach
violin to our Kindergarten students this year.
Fletcher Maynard Community School & Neighborhood Council- After School Youth Enrichment Classes
The
Fletcher Maynard Community School and Neighborhood Council is proud to
be offering a multitude of youth enrichment classes five days a week for
students in grades Jr. Kindergarten through fifth grade. Our classes
are 45 minutes or 1 hour long per week and run on a trimester system.
Our Fall session will begin on Monday, September 17th, 2012.
Session dates & weeks:
Fall
session: Monday, September 17th - Wednesday, December 19th (13.5
weeks)
Winter session: Monday, January 7th – Friday, April 12th (13
weeks)
Spring Session: Monday, April 22- Friday, June 14th (8 weeks)
Class and registration fees:
Fall and Winter: The cost per class is $40.00 per session or $300.00 per session for unlimited classes.
The cost for the spring session is $25.00 per class and $175 for unlimited classes.

Tutoring Plus Cambridge (After School)
Tutoring
Plus aims to support and encourage the academic, personal, and social
growth of children and youth in Cambridge, Massachusetts with the help
of volunteers and community partners. Tutoring Plus provides free
services to families, a structured environment for volunteers, and a
highly personal learning environment that produces positive and
rewarding results for all involved.
Tutoring Plus serves between 130 and 150 children in grades 4 through
12 each academic year through after-school tutoring and enrichment
programs. Students and staff have enrichment time before tutors meet
with their students from 6 to 7PM in six locations across Cambridge.

DHSP After School Program
The Department of Human
Service Program's after school program operates at the Fletcher Maynard
Academy 5 days a week from 2 - 5:55PM, as well as vacation weeks and
full/half days. We are a project-based learning program, teaching
enrichment activities in every subject planned around monthly themes. We
also offer homework help, P.E. and social skills building.
