Dinner of Thanks

Dinner of Thanks
Posted on 12/12/2014
On the evening of Thursday, November 20, The FMA community gathered in the gym for our annual Dinner of Thanks. Before dinner began the assembled learned about English/Spanish cognates from señor Casseli, the school’s Spanish teacher. Cognates, señor Casseli explained, are words in different languages that have a common history. Many commonly used English words have a lot in common with similar words in Spanish and French, for example. After señor Casseli, the crowd was treated a Parade of Flags show casing our community’s diversity, followed by performances from students (choir), teachers (Bollywood), and community members (CAC choir). The presentations made for a fabulously educational and enriching start to the evening.

After the proceedings it was time to eat, and there was more than enough food for everyone! The Fletcher Maynard faculty and staff would like to thank the teachers, staff, families, and community members that made this dinner possible. You all planned the event, decorated the gym, brought the food, served the food, and helped clean up. This was an amazing evening and it could not have happened with out you. Many hands do indeed make for light lifting. We hope to see all of you at our upcoming events.
