FMA 5th Graders Study Earth’s Systems at Alewife

On Thursday, November 15, the FMA fifth graders visited the Alewife Reservation as a part of their unit on Earth's Systems. Susan Agger, our tour guide, was very impressed with student engagement. They visited the watershed and learned how water moves and is recycled. Students also viewed the wetlands and discussed how a four Earth systems interact in those areas. It was exciting to see the students connecting what they learned in class with what they were experiencing during the field trip.

Afterwards, students reflected on their favorite part of the trip:

Syeira - It was amazing to see the swans in their natural environment.

Lucy - I learned how as water moved through the watershed, it got cleaner and cleaner.

Raul - We got to see how trash gets dropped off by water. It was cool getting to be a water molecule.
