Step Up to Help Out - How Can We Be A Part of a Changing Neighborhood? (Grades 3-5)
Over the next six weeks, students will be working in collaborative groups in a new initiative that seeks to get young people from Cambridge engaged in the question: How & where can we have a role in a rapidly changing neighborhood? To prepare, students in grades 3-5 participated in an assembly that looked at the difference between people who are faced with a problem and simply watch passively versus those who actively seek to solve the problem. After the assembly, we read a realistic fiction text set in our neighborhood and took a walk around the neighborhood to observe changes. Students will get an opportunity to communicate with city leaders and problem solve collaboratively. Final presentations will be shared on June 23rd.
