Families are welcome to use the library for checkout and book
browsing from 7:30 – 8:30AM, before students go to class, and 2:45 -
3:45PM when Aishah is in the library. Family members who wish to borrow
from the library’s collection may sign up for a “Family Library Card”
with Aishah. Family members other than students may check out two books.
Supervised students as well as teachers may use computers in the
library throughout the day. Please refrain from the printing of personal
materials. Seating may be used in the library by whole classes or by
individuals. Please contact Aishah to schedule use of the library space
during the day.
JK-2: Students in these grades come weekly and are
scheduled for a 45-minute library class. Library standard based lessons
and skills are taught through games, songs, and projects. Children have
approximately 10-15 minutes at the end of each library class to browse,
borrow, and read/look at books.
3-5: Students in these grades come either weekly or
bi-weekly for book talks, read alouds, genre work, and checkout. Through
collaboration and co-teaching with the classroom teacher throughout the
year, students will learn and use 21st century skills through research
and other projects. Grades 4/5 students are also participating in the
Massachusetts Children’s Book Awards (MCBA). Book discussion lunches
will be held in the library to discuss MCBA books throughout the winter.
All students are welcome in the library for book check out and
renewal throughout the day when there are no classes in session with
permission from their classroom teacher.
