On November 3rd, the third graders in Rooms 311 and 312 got a very special virtual visit from WBZ’s own Jacob Wycoff! The third graders, who have been studying weather and climate, got to hear how Mr. Wycoff became interested in meteorology and how he puts together his forecasts using technology and old school weather tools. They were especially interested to hear that his original love of weather was sparked by the film Twister when he was growing up. This has caused a major interest in extreme weather in third grade which serves us well as we begin designing structures that will survive damage from an extreme weather event. The third graders were also fascinated to discover that Mr. Wycoff doesn’t always have screens or maps behind him, but a green screen instead. He showed us how he can use the green screen to show different maps and radar images, but also be a little silly when he wants to. We are so grateful for his visit!
